Amazing tutorial on bounced light and color by *TastesLikeAnya!

Finished art: [link]

Here you go guys. The long awaited coloring tutorial I always said I would get to but never really did. <3

I'm horrible at explaining things..so I hope this helps a little. LMAO. And I hope you can read my handwriting. x____x
This was done on livestream, and my photoshop refuses to work properly when livestream is doing its job.

If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment.

I WOULD LOVE TO SEE WHAT YOU GUYS PRODUCE WITH THIS TUTORIAL! Link me here! (:

Hello! This tutorial is extremely useful! Thanks for uploading ;u; I'm trying it out right now ;u; though...with the overlay layer, I tried using the method with extremely light hair (yellow going to white; overlay layer is very dark red) and, using pastel blue/violet as light source colors, it...well, it's practically nonexistent OTL any tips? ;o; Thanks again TuT

Ahh hello hello! Thank you for taking a look at my tutorial! Hue hue. <:

As for white or lighter colors, I usually

a. make the colors a bit darker than they're meant to be (if possible), and then go over with a white or even a light source on a "luminosity" layer.

OR

b. Do the shading of the hair with white + blue-gray or blonde + orange on a separate layer (under the overlay, like with the skin), and use the overlay to only tint the hair.
I hope this makes sense! >.<

Waaa thanks so much ;u; I did the second one (light blond hair with orange shading; overlay only for the white highlights) Also, if you don't mind me asking, what's your criteria when choosing the overlay color? ;u;)~

Of course lovee!
Typically, I just make sure the overlay color doesn't "tint" the colors of the character too much.

For example, I often use a blue-ish gray to color dark hair. Now if I wanted that a dark black color, a red overlay would make it look too warm and purple - so I would you a dark blue, or a dark brown.

I used a blue overlay with pink highlights. <:

Another example was if you were coloring over an orangey-yellow...a blue overlay would make it more brown and gross or maybe even green, and you certainly don't want that.

I HOPE THIS MAKES SENSEE.
Usually I just try out several colors! (Blue, red, or violet - and occasionally a neutral red-brown.)

Is Paint tool Sai better than photoshop for this kind of art?

P.S I don't have SAI, but I see a lot of work done with it..))
